BROWN BAG LUNCHES

BCM's Brown Bag Lunch program is a series of mid-day lectures, concerts and performances -- great opportunities to enjoy an informative and enjoyable program while lunching with friends. Bring your own lunch - we'll provide drinks and dessert.

This month:

Kings' and queens' embroidery, 1920s flapper dresses, bridal gowns and red carpet fashions - all enhanced by the little known art of tambour beading.

Tambour beading is a hand-beading technique performed with a hook in a holder which holds a shortened French Cornelli needle, used to bead onto fabric that is stretched over a frame. Once considered a social pastime in the 1700s, tambour beading has grown into such a highly kept secret among fashion designers that there are very few people in the U.S. who can teach this technique.

Robert Haven, owner of Bead Embroidery and Design Studio in Lexington, KY is one of these few. And he's coming to BCM.
